Like if y'all really wanna talk about retraumatising yourself, imagine having a fucking anti as your therapist
The suicide rate would go up. I’m not even kidding right now, imagine if your therapist was constantly judging you, putting you down and telling you deserved your abuse because of what you read and you tell me there wouldn’t be a body count.
Imagine telling your therapist you have intrusive thoughts that you can’t stop having them and your so scared and your managing them the best you can and imagine that therapist telling you your a fucked up individual who belongs in a psych ward for having INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS.
Imagine telling them you wrote about your experiences and posted it on your private blog, tagged so that anyone with those triggers can avoid it, and imagine that therapist tells you your as bad as your fucking rapist.
Now imagine after you leave that therapist because you can’t take being verbally and emotionally abused and then you find out they called your parents to tell them what you told them in confidence in their office. Then the cops show up at your house because they said you were a predator and didn’t mention they reached that diagnosis because you ship Sheith.
Just fuck them. They’d break people.
Actually, there’s evidence of those with Anti / pros censorship / puritan mindsets attempting to wiggle their way into therapy and psychiatry.

Yo, in case anyone is wondering why I am so against antis, not personally, but as a Social Worker- THIS is why.
Antis are dangerous. Antis having access to vulnerable people is dangerous. Antis being able to do things like this and push their own ideology on those seeking help for what are complicated issues, where no two people are the same, is dangerous.
I cannot imagine someone sitting in a room with a client who is speaking about trauma and telling them, point blank, that they are hurting themselves by engaging in something like safe and consensual BDSM. The idea that that to me, as a Social Worker, is not only ridiculous, it is malpractice. I can PROMISE you that if anti rhetoric and this kind of bullshit makes it into the therapy scene- and I am sure it already has in some places- people will get hurt.
Antis are vile and disgusting because they are willing to take advantage of and put down vulnerable people seeking help. And for those of you who insist that this isn’t always the case- at BEST antis are so violently ignorant of psychology, sociology, the human psyche, and how trauma operates that they are doing serious harm to people. That’s the BEST case scenario. Which I am less inclined to believe for every time I see an anti disregarding what is common, best practice knowledge- that everyone copes in their own way, that a “thought crime” is not a thing, and that approaching trauma as something black and white will ALWAYS do more harm than good.
Once had an anti tell me my past abuse meant nothing cause of what I ship and another belittle my experience. They’re so quick to protect characters who don’t exist but put down real victims / survivors
And yet, antis claim they have the moral highground and that they are “protecting the children” while simultaneously endangering actually traumatized people over fictional characters. Yeah, right… just fuck right off. Full stop.
This culture and mindset is dangerous, it’s toxic and it helps no one, literally no one. The only thing Antis want to do is push their own beliefs and mindset onto others, no matter the consequences for that other person and completely disregarding their reasons and what they had to go through. That’s exactly what needs to stop, no questions asked.
I had various encounters with antis telling me that i was doing a disservice to abuse and rape victims for shipping a fictional ship, when i told them i was in fact an abuse victim who had been sexually harassed for years (at that point) by a family member they told me and i quote: “i can’t believe you would lie about such a subject, you obviously are not a victim if u ship this”. I slipped into such a awful depression period after that my friends worried i would drop out of uni.
I built tough skin now somewhat, but antis are such dangerous individuals, this treatment they give u, specially when you meet an anti irl (and i gave met them) and they tell u about how bdsm is just abuse and how those who like cute clothing or outfits are paedophiles bc they are romanticising children (an ACTUAL QUOTE CLASSMATES TOLD ME AFTER I SAID I WANTED TO WEAR A TENNIS SKIRT BC THEY LOOKED CUTE IN A KPOP VIDEO), its a surreal experience bc u really see their conviction in their faces and u just don’t know what to say…

Is it possible someone could explain who and what they are as a group in layman’s terms and how one even determines what qualifies as an anti?
An anti, in the most basic and/or coherent terms I can best describe, is a person that has a “moral obligation” to try and keep every fandom wholesome aka Soccer Mom 2.0 types that believe talking about X encourages X.
In the 80′s, we had these kinds of people believe Heavy Metal was a gateway to satanism.
In the 90′s, it was video games.
Ouughts? Eminem was the pariah.
Now? Anything involving conflict in fan fiction, “immoral ships”, Hero x Villain dynamics, redemption arcs for characters that did bad things in a story, or on a broader scope, anything said Anti finds to be not catered to their painstakingly specific taste, therefore someone else who likes it is a bad person and should be treated like a Nazi.
imagine looking at someone who thinks “hey, shipping an adult with a kid is gross, grooming minors is gross, don’t do that” and saying that they’re anti-recovery and the moral equivalent to those D&D is summoning satan soccer moms.

Imagine equating writing fiction with doing things in real life. People who are writing fiction are not “grooming children” If you think that merely by existing fiction causes abuse or grooms people into abuse you are wrong.

If you bother to actually read those links, even if just one, you’ll learn that grooming isn’t a passive behavior or act. It’s a series of deliberate actions that occur one on one between an abuser and their intended victim. A person publishing a work of fiction can’t control who reads it, or who doesn’t read it. They can’t force anyone who isn’t in their story to read it. And if someone does read it, that’s act done without the knowledge of the writer and unless the reader chooses to reach out via comments(online or fanmail) there’s no interaction between writer and reader. It’s all remote and passive.
And before you start in with “well abusers use fic to groom kids” let me ask you something. If an abuser used gifts of comic book or video games, trips to see movies or going to an amusement park as part of their grooming process would you be going after the publishers of those comic books and video games as if they were abusing kids themselves? What about the people who own and operate the movie theaters and amusement parks? If you don’t hold those people responsible for the acts of an abuser why do you hold fic writers responsible for the acts of total strangers to them? It’s like accusing Ford or Nissan for murder because someone used a car they built to murder someone. Not exactly some so called reasonable people would do.
And yeah if people are going around and telling abuse survivors that “hey, you’re not allowed to use this tool as part of your recovery. If you do than you’re just as bad an evil as your abuser.” Then yeah they are anti-recovery as they’re demanding people hobble themselves during their attempts to recover.
And if you think that merely by existing a work of fiction will cause abuse than yeah you also sound just like that people who equate D&D with satanism.
