Have you ever seen a little girl run so fast she falls down? There’s an instant, a fraction of a second before the world catches hold of her again… A moment when she’s outrun every doubt and fear she’s ever had about herself and she flies. In that one moment, every little girl flies. —Captain Marvel Vol 8 #1

the real millennial/gen z divide is people who screamed with laughter while fury, maria, and carol waited for the mp3 to load on that windows 95 machine and people who didn’t

also I have to laugh at those who say brie has always the same expression, because I’m pretty sure she was more expressive than many male actors in the mcu.. which isn’t the point. she portrayed carol the way male actors usually portray leading males and superheroes. I didn’t see any fanboy complain about ben affleck being expressionless…

i just remembered quite possibly the most satisfying image from captain marvel: carol dragging jude law’s character across a field like it was nothing after refusing to play his game and absolutely /destroying/ his ego with a blast to the chest
hell. fuckin. yeah.

okay but actually that scene when carol was like “youre terrorists!” to the skrull and he was like “no. We’re the victims, the cree have been manipulating you. theyre the ones killing us, we’re just trying to survive.” was actually a really surprising and pretty cool central plot for a major marvel movie to have even if it was all metaphorical, but then they Literally immediately ruined it in the next scene by having her be like:
“i cant wear the #Bad kree colors anymore! i need to replace them with #Good colors” and then replaced them with the us military colors and made Absolute Sure we Knew they were in reference to the us air force like HELLO.
they were really like: military propaganda? bad and evil, and then in the same breath: But U.S military propaganda? Good and Heroic
hm.
I’m not an us person, so maybe that’s why I am seriously un-aware that “us military colours” are red-blue-gold? which brach would that be ayway, don’t you folks have, like, the air force and water force and land force and what-not? I’m fairly certain they don’t all wear red-blue-gold? wonder woman also wears red-blue-gold, btw, and superman..? ..I mean, there are a bunch of people who wear those colours? because it’s a cool combo? and the scene clearly shows that she references the t-shirt Monica is wearing, which.. I don’t recall if it was really air force or just flight-stuff-inspired and it was clearly meant to reference the girl and also Carol’s roots here? so..
? maybe don’t put propaganda where it doesn’t have to be?
is there a special need to go: yeah, they make clear the refugees are the victims and not the bad guys BUT..?
(also, her costume is canonically these colours. like.. what is really the problem here? are we looking for things to wrinkle our noses at or what?)
