You know every show that the premise is like “people find out ghosts/monsters/demons are real and are charged with stopping them” appeal to me way more now as a post-graduate not because I believe in ghosts more or whatever but because can you IMAGINE just being handed a job that you don’t even need to apply for? Like just being told “basically there’s this bad thing and all you do is make sure it doesn’t do what it wants” that’s just customer service baby and I worked that for 6 goddamn years! Just TRY getting past “I have a job to offer you” before I can jump down your throat agreeing.

some idiot with a dumb ghost-hunting name who joined the Cause because they love the paranormal: oh fuck oh shit this is really scary guys I’m having second thoughts

me, who knows that if we run away I have to apply to like, a real actual Jobbe again: wakey wakey demons it’s this or retail so guess who’s got nothing to lose

@ writers who want to publish original works: can we just agree that we need to start putting tags in original stuff. like after the dedications page, we have a tags page??

yes pls

It costs a publisher almost nothing to insert a TW page at the back of the book for people who really want to see what they’ll be exposing themselves to. One fucking page with the relevant tags, tucked away in a place where people who don’t want spoilers can easily avoid it, and hey presto! Everyone’s fucking happy!

*Sigh* It’s SO not that difficult…

There’s “Death of the Author” a critical perspective that hold that an author’s intentions and background don’t really matter to the intepretation the work evokes in the viewer.  You can still enjoy, transform or derive whatever meaning you like from the work regardless of whatever the author is doing on twitter.

Since many series that have inspired transformative works are not written by a single author- they’re the work of a creative team, or a series of directors, or so many writers that the latest weren’t even alive when the series began- I propose a new term: Cataclysimic Exctinction Of The Authors, a critical perspective that acknoldeges that Group Projects Are Terrible and that the veiwer should feel free to sift through the rubble like a paleontologist, looking for exciting fragments to reconstruct into new interpretations, and to disregard the dirt.
