https://ift.tt/2QZObeRso, like, I watched the new(ish?) trailer for black widow, having lived with the unending internal chant of “please don’t suck please don’t suck please don’t suck” for a while, having suffered through the mcu’s failings for years, and I just..
I find myself going “oh, even if it sucks (because it will, the only question is how badly) fandom can fix it. If the calamityis/threat is a new programm of widows, surely, even if the movie decides to have them kill all the new ones, fandom will fix this, will give us, say, them liberating the trainees, helping them reclaim themselves, take revenge on those who sought to use them, they will not become characters in the mcu, of course, because the mcu-decisions are made by men with fragile dicks for brains, but, like, fandom can fix this.
and, like. I do think fandom can.
but I don’t feel safe assuming fandom will. not any more.
not after the descent into madness that ran through the entire fandom, making them follow into the dumb-ass division campain leading up to civil war.
I mean. After Ultron? yeah, we still pretty much knew who and what and you could talk about /a fandom/
but then? later? um. no.
I mean, there was relevant agreement at the time to just, y’know, ignore Ultron. because that’s what it deserved, because we just didn’t want to accept that, and I mean.. we were on a good track with that!
and maybe that scared someone? cause they sure pulled out all the stops pretty quickly then, I think.
but in any case, the easy way people let themselves be put into opposing sides, without ever acknowledging (which had been a perfectly normal and sane agreement, I’d though, previously) that if a story sucks, If any character’s actions or decisions are just nonsense, all of that, then it is the WRITERS fault, not the characters? I can’t trace exactly where that got lost, in the dumb campaign they had the actors do, but I fucking hate it and nowI can’t seem to trust fandom anymore, and I hate that even more.
gnaeh.
