So to show solidarity for Eurovision 2020 getting cancelled due to Covid-19, I suggest that on May 16th we all collectively either :

1.) Set at least one piano on fire on the balcony

2.) Throw golden confetti out the window for five minutes

3.) Call the neighbor we hate most to tell them they got 0 points at midnight

Andy Goldsworthy, meditative ice sculptures

An artist who makes “earthworks”, he collaborates with nature to create sculpture that is serene and meditative, reliant on time and weather, and as much about the material as it is about the making. Goldworthy’s work is abstract yet accessible. We can relate to his use of natural elements and to the simple, yet sophisticated, beauty of his sculpture. His work is site specific, made for and from a place, entirely with tools and materials from the natural environment.

A general strike? On April 20th, 2020? To make an aid plan that would be permanent? To make healthcare a right?

That’d be crazy to have happen on April 20th. Absolutely crazy for a general strike on April 20th. Nothing is going to happen on April 20th, 2020 in the form of a general strike. Nope, not on April 20th, 2020.

This can’t happen. Nope. Nothing. Will. Happen. On. April 20th 2020.

oh man i just noticed the bootlickers in the notes

You don’t need someone to bag your groceries. Bag them yourself. “but then i’ve just proven that we don’t need baggers lololol” The reason baggers exist isn’t because we can’t do it ourselves, it’s because having someone to ring up your shit and bag it makes things a hell of a lot more convenient. Clerks and baggers are AMAZING at saving time, and you want that convenience. You don’t want to spend the extra time doing it. You’ve just realized that the commodity of having a bagger saves you so much time. so fucking pay them a living wave to do it.

Oh but what about deliveries of life-saving equipment and medical supplies? Because that’s where people always go when talking about strikes and protests. PEOPLE WILL DIE!!!!111one Yeah. People who are striking don’t want to hurt people. No one is ever really hurt by a strike. This is the same argument used when people block roads to protest. “But what about the emergency vehicles!!!” they cry, while watching a video of a crowd of protesters parting for an ambulance. The truth is, vital services will still function, because the people who strike have more compassion in their small toe than you have in your entire body.

You remember that Scrubs episode where the nurses went on strike? But they couldn’t actually walk out because of their patients. So they slowed down all their administrative work that didn’t involve helping sick and injured people. That’s it.

People are so worried about ME ME ME ME when workers go on strike. Because either you got yours so you think no one else has a right (because for some reason you think rights are a pie, and if someone gets more rights, somehow you get less? Yeah, about that. The US just pissed $1.5 trillion away into the stock market, so there’s more than enough pie for you AND the bagger you just yelled at to hurry up), or you were cheated and abused your whole life and now you’re 70 and destitute and you think everyone else should be as miserable as you are. Fuck you.

Strike. Fight for your rights. Store clerks, delivery personnel, and stock clerks work ten times harder than any CEO, and I’ll gladly be inconvenienced if it means you get higher fucking pay.

STRIKE! UNIONIZE!

For a period of maybe 1-3 months, the entire economy will be entirely dependent on a very small minority group of workers bagging groceries and delivering stuff. It’d be a real shame if this very small minority went on strike and demanded all the socialist policy bailouts be made permanent. I mean, they’re not even being given proper protective equipment, they’re kinda mad already. It’d sure be easy for them. The free rent, the cool thou a month, the 0 interest, the guaranteed sixk leave, guaranteed healthcare, yeah that stuff. We sure don’t want those permanently, do we? I mean, even Trump is already talking about ‘em. The scariest part is they wouldn’t even have to use violence, or force, or take to the streets risking contracting the virus, maybe just not going to work might work. It sure seems like if could happen at any moment. Like maybe some kind of general strike on April 20, 2020, lasting until an aid plan is put forward that will fucking remain permanent. Maybe Bernie might even hear of this and write one up? We’re in strange times, friends. And this minority isn’t even being provided proper personal protection equipment.

Oh shit, I just realized it’d be pretty disasterous if this was spread into Facebook coronavirus groups that have tens of thousands of people all angry and scared as fuck. Mods pls delete if not allowed. This dangerously easy general strike could actually fucking happen.

It’d be crazy if people in affected areas, who know they’re about to lose their jobs, quit and applied to groceries stores, where demand for help is absolutely massive, and unionized everyone desperate for safe equipment.

How the Apocalypse Will Bring Out the Best in People:

hope-for-the-planet:

I first started writing this with regards to climate-change-related disasters, but I feel it may be especially relevant right now:

Movies and TV shows tell us that when society falls apart people turn into selfish, violent creatures. They tell us that after the world ends, other people are more of a threat than the zombies or the virus or the natural disaster that caused the crisis.

However, this bleak outlook on humanity is not reflected in reality or even in science. In fact, the opposite is true.

“The myth that panic, looting, and antisocial behavior increases during the apocalypse (or apocalyptic-like scenarios) is in fact a myth—and has been solidly disproved by multiple scientific studies…What really happens after an apocalypse? Society works better than it ever had, for a brief time.” (What Really Happens After the Apocalypse by Arkady Martine).

This phenomenon, known as “spontaneous prosocial helping behavior” is found nearly universally across human cultures and is so intense that many survivors of apocalyptic situations may even have nostalgic-like feelings for the days after a disaster occurred.

“We remain ourselves for the most part, but free to act on, most often, not the worst but the best within. The ruts and routines of ordinary life hide more beauty than brutality.” (Rebecca Solnit, A Paradise Built in Hell)

When left to their own devices, the vast majority of humans will go out of their way to help other humans.

What made me just outright giggle at the absurdity of it all is reading about these bunkers in particular: https://www.businessinsider.com/photos-of-survival-condo-project-luxury-doomsday-shelter-2017-4 and seeing that their plan to keep the Unwashed Masses from intruding on them during the apocalypse is armed guards up on the ground patrolling the perimeter, which just illustrates the mindset of these people, they think they can buy anything, including the idea that people will voluntarily stick around and defend them once society collapses.

Okay

I went to that link and looked at the pictures and like….they don’t post the location of that bunker but.

I think I know where it is.

I’ve been north of Witchita Kansas, which is where they say it is, and I Recognize That Landscape, y’all.

Also, the Mr. Is a professional welder.

So like. Uh. Well.

Sure would be terrible if someone saw this and felt motivated to break a law or two

So um the article deadass says it was an old missile silo and like there were nike missile bases all over… I looked up the Wikipedia article for the bases in the us and scrolled to Kansas to find this map which confirms it’s base SC-50-C.

Reblogging so people leave these poor rich alone and like… Don’t go to these places to wield them in. Make sure that the wielders know what place not to go to. You know 🥺

And make absolutely certain that no municipalities at all send, like, all their garbage trucks to illegally dump contaminated waste over the entrance and air intakes… Because that would be just *terrible*…
